The Xicotepec Project is a joint project of Rotary District 6000 (D6000) and the Rotary Club of Xicotepec. The project's beginnings go back to 2001; in 2003 and each year thereafter (with the exception of the pandemic years 2020-22), a project team has traveled to Xicotepec over spring break to help carry out service projects of the Xicotepec Rotary Club.

Since 2003, more than 1,100 volunteers—including Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, University of Iowa students, faculty, and family members—have traveled to Xicotepec to work alongside the Rotary Club of Xicotepec on meaningful community service projects. For many, this trip has been a life-changing experience and a highlight of their service journey.

Who can apply?

·  D6000 Interact and Rotaract Clubs are encouraged to promote The Xicotepec Project and the opportunity to participate in March, 2027 to their members.

·  D6000 Junior Rotarians or other youth involved or connected with a D6000 Rotary Club

·  ANY YOUNG PERSON aged 15 to 30, including young Rotarians, can seek the endorsement of a D6000 Rotary Club in order to apply for and participate in the project

o Endorse means only that the club believes the applicant will be a positive and productive team member; it does not imply financial or other support from the club, although clubs are welcome to provide support.

Financial Assistance Is Available

·  Interactors, Rotaractors and endorsed youth participants (ages 15 - 30) can apply for partial reimbursement for the cost of the trip from the District's Youth Services Fund. More information will be found in the application.

A document with detailed information about the March 2027 trip can be downloaded from the application website.

Please share this opportunity widely with anyone who might be interested. Don’t miss your chance to join us in Xicotepec for an unforgettable week of service, cultural exchange, and Rotary fellowship.
